More than 1178 cases of violence against children have been reported
in Fort-portal city and Kabarole district ever since the lock down
started
According to Police records 303 cases of domestic violence and
defilement have been reported in the ongoing lock down which started
in June 2021 while 875 were registered during the first lock-down.
Majority of these cases include defilement and domestic violence
Agnes Angom the in charge child and family protection unit at
Fort-portal police says defilement has been the most affecting
childrenWhile speaking to us on Tuesday at her office, Angom noted that parents are
to blame for all forms of violence against children because
they have dedicated most of their time looking for money than their
familiesThe issue comes at the time when World Education Bantwana is in a campaign of
sensitizing stakeholders which includes parents on preventing violence
against children

and management capacity building to community-based organizations
(CBOs) helping vulnerable families access a comprehensive range of
care and services
