Local leaders of Kicwamba sub-county have spoken out about the water crisis that has hit the area for three consecutive years
According to local leaders the sub-county has suffered the water challenge since 2017 when Midwestern Umbrella was contracted to provide water to villages in vein.
Magezi Jack Kicuculi the sub-county LCIII Chairperson says Midwestern Umbrella is a government arm under the ministry of water and environment which has cost suffering on the people of Kicwamba for so many years.
During a sub-county council sitting on Thursday, councilors said, this government body entered in their area on 15th December 2017 with aim of extending gravity water to villages.
Mugume Selevenous the councilor of old persons says all the three parishes of Kihondo, Bwanika and Mabale have never got access to clean water yet Midwestern Umbrella is making fake accountability.
Kasiaja Ronald Rwaheru of Mabale parish says, Midwestern Umbrella entered the sub-county illegally the reason why local residents are suffering.
Speaking during a council sitting Kasiaja asked council to pass a resolution rescinding a resolution grating the company a contract of extending water to communities on behalf of government.
Council has therefore resolved to make a final decision in December after having engagement with relevant authorities.
