A total of forty six goats have so far died in Rwimi town council Bunyangabu district after a strange wild animal invaded the area three months ago
The wild animal suspected to be a leopard has left residents in total panic for fear of their lives and domestic animals
Abel Ngomayondi the mayor Rwimi town council says the wild animal has been in the area for close to three months and it has so far killed forty six goats and five pigs
Speaking to us Ngomayondi revealed that they suspect the leopard to have escaped from the neighboring Kibale national park
Amon Twesigye a resident of Nyabwina zone noted that it has been killing their animals including goats, pigs, and hens for almost three months
He added that for close to three months the wild has been in the area it has been hiding in the maize plantations during day and revenges the area looking for what to eat in the night hours
Last week locals together with their leaders joined hands to hunt for the suspected leopard but at the end of the day they failed to locate where it was hiding hence called for the intervention of poachers to bring dogs
Agnes Kumuhirwe says that she lives in great fear for her little children whom she keeps at home before going to work in markets.
