Tooro Kingdom Koogere Foundation, in conjunction with the Cross-cultural Foundation of Uganda and United Nations Women, have embarked on mitigating cases of domestic violence.
This, is through promotion of Tooro Culture, norms and values.
Speaking at the sidelines of a mass gathering on Sunday during an occasion dubbed ‘Ekyooto’ hosted in Kibasi Town Council, Kabarole district , crowds noted that Tooro culture is vital in restoring dignity among people of the kingdom.
Alice Basemera, the executive director of Koogere Foundation Uganda says these gathering will help to promote culture and fight violence against children especially girls and women.
Organizers of the event, tasked LC1 Chairpersons to also start holding the same meeting which will teach the youth about their culture and get rid of immoral behaviors.
Government Leaders note on culture
The chief guest Richard Rwabuhinga, the Chairperson Kabarole district, applauded Koogere Foundation for promoting culture and joining other forces towards eradicating domestic violence.
According to Basemera, the same events will be conducted in other districts of Tooro Kingdom, whereas other areas have already covered the event
Festus Bandeeba, the Kabarole district RDC, noted that the current government is promoting culture through patriotism.
