Exams in Fort Portal City have commenced smoothly, with candidates joining thousands across the country to sit the 2026 Uganda Certificate of Education examinations.
Speaking to our reporter, the City Principal Education Officer, Ategeka Patrick confirmed that candidates began today with Mathematics in the morning and Chemistry in the afternoon, and that Fort Portal City had prepared all its examination centres for a smooth, malpractice-free exercise.
He urged candidates to stay confident and calm, keep time, and avoid any form of examination malpractice, saying they are children of the freeborn, free to excel, before wishing them success.
He further called upon head teachers and invigilators to strictly observe UNEB guidelines, and tasked them to ensure that no candidate is denied a chance to sit because of a fees balance. Ategeka also asked parents to keep praying for their children and provide peace at home, and urged UNEB supervisors and security agencies to protect the integrity of the exams.
According to Ategeka, Fort Portal is an Education City, and the whole community should encourage the candidates.
