Ntoroko District Officials have applauded Natural Resources Defense Initiative (NRDI) for empowering the district to promote integrated water resource management systems.
This was during an inception meeting held at Ntoroko district headquarters recently, between a team from NRDI the technical and political staff of Ntoroko District.
The Vice Chairperson LCV Ntoroko, Ms. Eddy Kabugho, noted that the district is still constrained in promoting water and sanitation hygiene partly, due to limited funding. She thus commended NRDI for coming in to offer support in this area which had a gap.
“We have so much to accomplish in areas of water and sanitation if our communities have to stay safe and healthy and we are grateful to NRDI for offering us this support,” she said.
NRDI’s aim
According to Chris Agaba, a project coordinator in NRDI, NRDI is set to support the Districts of Ntoroko, Kasese, Kabarole and Fort Portal city in a bid to promote integrated water Recourses Management systems.
This he adds, will be done through formulating and strengthening the Water and Sanitation coordination committees so as to enhance participation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in District Water and Coordination Committees.
Agaba, notes says this will enhance coordination and collaboration of District duty bearers to coordinate with CSOs and NGOs in management of water and sanitation facilities.
What NRDI is about
NRDI, is a non-Governmental Organization -NGO, registered under No. (INDRI154444466NB), and currently operating in Uganda. Their main office is located in Fort portal town with in the Western District of Kabarole.
