Asaba Brian a former contestant for Member of Parliament in the Bunyangabu county NRM flag bearer race has rejected poll results citing electoral malpractice and officially announced a comeback as independent in the 2026 general elections
While declaring his comeback during a press conference held at his home in Bunjojo village, Kibiito sub-county, Bunyangabu district on Sunday, Asaba Brian acknowledged that the July 17th 2025 NRM parliamentary primaries were marred by low voter turnout, register tempering, bribery, voter intimidation, absent polling agents and changing of election results while other supporters didn’t turn-up to vote because some opponent had spread false rumors announcing him dead
Cheating his Victory
Asaba Brian reiterated his support for the National Resistance Movement NRM despite the errors that were done by individuals and stole his victory
Promising accountability, commitment to service above self, uniting the people of Bunyangabu towards development, addressing issues of poor service delivery like provision of access to clean water, improving education and healthcare, improving infrastructure, household income, and extension of electricity and mobilizing his supporters will carry on as usual
Under the Asaba Brian Foundation more projects focusing on Job creation, environmental protection, boosting household income among others will not stop he said”
Bunyangabu NRM electoral Commission declared Kalenzi Victor a winner with 26,904 votes, Asaba Brian second with 15,370 votes, Ategeka James third with 13,370 among others. Yoweri Museveni the party chairman attributed the mistakes to weak and greedy NRM electoral Commission
