The Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, who doubles as the local ordinary of Kiyinda Mityana Diocese, Rt Rev Joseph Anthony Zziwa, has called on Ugandan Catholics studying and working in Rome to remain united in faith and actively connect with the Church in Uganda.
Bishop Zziwa made the remarks during a Mass and interaction with the Ugandan Catholic community, marking the final day of the bishops’ Ad Limina visit to the Holy See.
The visit, which began on March 15, included meetings with Vatican department heads and an audience with Pope Leo XIV, during which the bishops presented a report on the state of the Church in Uganda and shared updates on evangelization efforts.
Speaking to the congregation, Bishop Zziwa thanked students, priests, and lay members for their dedication in representing the Catholic Church abroad.

He also expressed gratitude to the organizers of the visit, including Father Alex Seremba, the Comboni missionaries, choir members, and staff who assisted the bishops during their stay in Rome.
“We encourage you to remain steadfast in your faith and to continue acquiring knowledge that will benefit the Church in Uganda,” Bishop Zziwa said.
He urged the community to use their skills and experiences to strengthen pastoral work and contribute to the development of the country.
He commended the faithful to the Blessed Mother Mary and the Uganda Martyrs, wishing them a fruitful end to the Lenten season and a joyous Easter celebration.
