Fort Portal City has bid farewell to Town Clerk Ambrose Ocen, who used his final address to civil servants to call for humility, professionalism, and responsible leadership as he prepares to take up a new role as Senior Administrator at Muni University.
Speaking during an emotional farewell ceremony held at Musisa Hall, Ocen cautioned public servants against arrogance, workplace rivalries, and the misuse of authority, emphasizing that effective leadership is rooted in service to others.
He encouraged staff to support one another, maintain professionalism, and continue pursuing personal and career development despite the pressures that often come with public administration.
The farewell meeting was marked by tributes from city department heads, who described Ocen as a transformational leader whose people-centered leadership style strengthened teamwork and improved institutional performance.
City Production Officer Patrick Muhenda and City Education Officer John Bosco praised Ocen for his mentorship and fatherly guidance, saying he cultivated a supportive working environment where staff felt valued and motivated.
City Planner Richard Businge commended Ocen’s calm and diplomatic approach to resolving complex administrative and structural challenges, while Finance Officer Karamagi credited him for providing strategic leadership that helped mobilize resources to complete the Fort Portal City Council building.
Speakers at the ceremony agreed that Ocen leaves behind a legacy of integrity, administrative diplomacy, and collaborative leadership that has strengthened service delivery in Fort Portal City.
