Brief History of Jubilee Radio
INAUGURATION: Official opening was on 12th April 2014.
OWNERSHIP: Jubilee Radio “The Joy of the Family” is a community based commercial radio that is owned by the Catholic diocese of Fort Portal under the Social Communications Commission.
ORIGIN: The idea of setting up a diocesan radio station dates a long time back; but the resolution of the same was finally and unanimously passed during the 3rd diocesan synod in July 2011. Thus the radio was started for the purpose of enriching the people with information on social, spiritual and economic growth being established as a symbol of celebrating the 50 years of faith in Fort Portal diocese. The radio can therefore be seen as the voice of the diocese evangelizing the family; since everyone originated from and belongs to a family.
LOCATION: The station is located on Plot 6A, Mugurusi Road, Fort Portal town; adjacent to Alpine Medical Centre, opposite Dutches Hotel and the Human Rights Commission.
FREQUENCY: The radio broadcasts on the frequency of 105.6FM
LANGUAGES: It broadcasts in different languages to address various audiences and ethnic groups in the region that include: English, Runyoro/Rutooro, Runyankole/Rukiga.
COVERAGE: The Radio covers the districts of Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Bundibugyo, Ntoroko, Kasese, Kyegegwa and parts of Rubirizi, Bushenyi, Kanungu, Kibaale, Masindi and Mubende districts. The business has so far attracted a relatively large audience with the latest audience research estimated at 2 million listners. It is hoped that listenership will keep continually growing.
VISION: To transform people holisitically through efficient and effective dissemination of relevant information.

SERVICES: Jubilee radio is a community based, commercial church-founded radio that strives to produce high quality, value added, feature enriched and user friendly community based information geared towards the formation, education and entertainment of the masses; and hence promoting integral development. Our mission is therefore to provide these services to our customers at a cost that is subsidized yet standard. In short, Jubilee Radio’s goal is to offer world class quality information and up-to-date forms of education and entertainment so as to be a self-sustaining business while providing diversified services.
Jubilee Radio does the work of evangelizing every individual in the family through our unique programming serving as the voice of the voiceless.
