The Archbishop of Church of Uganda [COU], the most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, has condemned the acts of corruption in Uganda.
In his summon during his pastoral visit at St. John’s cathedral Ruwenzori diocese in Fort Portal city, Dr. Mugalu, complained of doctors in government hospitals who cannot attend to expecting mothers before receiving bribes.
His grace, asked Christians sparingly spend in this tough economy of Uganda, and ensure they keep their families with some food.
Desist from Question & Answer Marriages
According to Dr. Kaziimba, many marriages are experiencing challenges, an act he described as married but separated.
”Most marriages are failing because there is no love any more. They are based on question answer. When a husband asks a wife for food the wife answers whether the husband doesn’t know where the kitchen is and so on.” Remarked Archbishop Kaziimba.
Notably to him too, is the fact that some people are married together but already separated. They are simply married for formality.
The Archbishop, remarked too that there are some women suffering in their marriages where their husbands sadly beat them to death.
However, the man of God realized that there are men too are dying silently because they have no where to present their grievances concerning gender based violence.
This, he says has led to some marriages perishing because of money and indiscipline by some women.
Embrace dialogue
Following the example of the recently concluded teacher’s strike, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu, encouraged Christians to embrace dialogue as away of resolving issues but advised them to do way with strikes.
He remarked that it was the children of the poor who suffered, posing a question to government men and women present on the function and also appreciated the dialogue that exited the strike.
”During the lockdown children of rich people were studying and the recent teachers’ strike the children of rich people were studying, Government men present here, Isn’t it true?” He inquired.
He says that guns and spears cannot solve problems and advised the government to have a salary scale for government workers.
Church land use
Dr. Mugalu, noticed that the church still had vast land, and advised church leaders to construct structures which will generate income.
He therefore, asked the general public too, to utilize their land in coffee growing, cocoa growing among others which will generate income.
He noted that land grabbers have good strategy of stealing church land.
The Archbishop’s notice, comes at a time when the diocese of Ruwenzori is undergoing a process of securing land title for land titles for their land. This follows the malicious cases of fraud and land issues faced previously
He asked the government of Uganda to protect church land and other institutions since they approach them to do different projects on their land.

Archbishop’s visit in summary
“You have done most of the work. What remains is the verification Committee coming here in a few days time that will submit their final report to the Provincial assembly in August this year. The current Diocese, Ruwenzori, will call for a Synod, form a nominations Committee, select two names for the new Bishop and submit them to my office. I will then call a House of Bishops meeting to elect the new Bishop. I will set a date to come here to consecrate and enthrone him as the new Bishop,” Archbishop Kaziimba guided.
