The Bishop of the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa, has confirmed that this year’s pilgrimage to Katoosa Mass will be presided over by His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha Adyeri, the Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese.
In an interview with Jubilee Radio yesterday evening, Bishop Muhiirwa emphasized that the Archbishop had already confirmed his role as the main Celebrant, alongside other bishops from the Mbarara Archdiocese, including Bishop Vincent Kirabo of Hoima Diocese, Bishop Callisto Rubaramiea of Kabale Diocese, Bishop Francis Aquirinus Kibira of Kasese Diocese, as well as himself.
This year, Bisozi Parish from the Kamwenge Deanery is set to lead the animation of the pilgrimage, which has notably attracted a large number of pilgrims from across Uganda and beyond.
Rev. Fr. Gerald Akugizibwe, the Pastoral Coordinator of the Fort Portal Diocese, appeared on Jubilee Radio’s Ekigambo Ky’omuliisa Show and explained that this year’s pilgrimage is particularly significant, as it coincides with the Jubilee year declared by Pope Francis. The Pope has emphasized pilgrimages to holy sites as a way to deepen faith and a form of self-sacrifice, especially for the intention of praying for those who have lost their way and seeking hope.
