American Tower Corporation Uganda ATC Uganda has inaugurated a digital community computer center in the heart of Fort Portal City’s central division, situated on Kabarole Hill. This initiative by the American Tower Corporation aims to empower individuals with essential digital skills.
Dorothy Kabagambe Ssemanda, CEO of ATC Uganda, announced the center’s opening, boasting 12 computers with complimentary internet access. The curriculum at this computer center includes courses on Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, web design, and more.
Ssemanda, emphasized that participants must complete a one-month course, after which they’ll receive a certificate—a proactive step in combating unemployment.
Ategeka Patrick, the Inspector of Schools for Fort Portal City, hailed the initiative for its potential to enhance the city’s education system through stable internet connections and free computer classes.
Rev. Charles Ndolerire, Ruwenzori diocesan secretary, commended the center for facilitating skill development among students and other community members, fostering self-reliance.
Kimara Selivestor, political assistant to the Fort Portal woman MP, urged the ATC team to extend their services to North division, ensuring broader access to computer literacy within the region.
