Newly ordained Priests in Fort Portal Catholic Diocese in Uganda, have been implored to desist from giving lane excuses every time they are tasked to do God’s ministry.
The new priests include Rev. Fr. Foustine Kaizire from Kitumbi parish, Rev. Fr. Peter Mwesige Kyamatangaparish Rev. Fr. Clovice Ruhuma Virika parish, Rev. Fr. Joseph Amanyire, Rev. Fr. Matia Mulumba and Rev. Fr. Walter Murungi (Capuchin missionary) all from Yerya parish
In his homily during the ordination of six (6) Deacons to the order of priesthood at Kyamatanga Catholic parish Virika Deanary Bunyangabu district, Bishop Robert Muhiirwa the ordaining Bishop, emphasized the need by the candidates he was about to ordain, to humbly serve the people of God following the example of Jesus Christ.
“You are here by called to serve God through serving his people. You are therefore expected to handle them with love and mercy. When they come for the sacrament of penance do not make confession rooms tough chambers as said by the Holy Father.” Noted Muhiirwa during the Saturday event at Kyamatanga.
Decrying few priests in a big diocese of Fort Portal, Bishop Muhiirwa asked parents to stop discouraging their children from joining priesthood or religious life.
The prelate, went ahead to acknowledge with appreciation the role played by parents to the ordination candidates, in their journey of faith and education,but further tasked other parents to be exemplary to their children through praying with them, and praying for them to be God fearing.
- Rev. Fr Francis Asaba, the Kyamatanga parish priest, congratulated the newly ordained and welcomed them to God’s ministry.
Fr Asaba, tasked Christians to cooperate with the new priests whose journey was still fresh in pushing forward the work of God.
Speaking on behalf of Parents to the newly ordained, Mr Peter Mugisa tasked the new priests to do the needful in spiritually transforming the society which seems to have some what gone astray in faith and obeying God.
Rev.Fr Clovice Ruhuma, who represented the new ordinands, expressed gratitude to Christians, parishioners, Parents, Formators and priests whose combined efforts made it possible for them to officially reach God’s holy altar as priests.
He pledged to pray for the Christians ,but asked them to continue praying for the priests in accomplishing God’s will.
