Muslim men, women and children in Fort Portal City, have this morning thronged mosques to mark the Eid-ul-Adha holiday, that has fallen on the tenth day in the final (twelfth) month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar; Dhu-al-Hijjah.
The celebration of Eid-al-Adha is observed by Islam believers worldwide, in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail.
Notably,the command of Sacrificing Ismail, from Allah was a test of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question.
Therefore, Eid-ul-Adha implies the festival of sacrifice. Locally, after offering prayers, animals were sacrificed to follow the Sunnah if prophet Abraham .
Prayers are Kabarole Main Mosque, Mpanga Fort Portal City
At Kabarole Main Mosque, Sheikh Hakim Karim the District Kadhi Tooro who led prayers, advised Muslims to be more vigilant of the many groups coming up to promote Islamophobia, saying the said groups have ill intentions to stain the image of Islam faith, yet it condemns such acts.
Sheikh Karim calls on Muslims to learn and teach Islam faith, promote unity and remain United.
He further described Eid-ul-Adha as a day of celebration, hence tasking Muslims to embrace the virtue of sharing their possessions to the needy.
Today being a holiday of slaughtering, Sheikh Hakim reminded believers to share the slaughtered animals to the neighbors who might have not taken part in the activity, as a way of promoting unity in diversity.
Tooro Muslims challenged with land Squatters
Sheikh Bashir Kayondo, the Chairman Tooro Muslims called on the government to come to their aid in evicting squatters, who have occupied their institutional land with impunity.
Sheik Kayondo, notes that efforts to come to terms with the squatters to leave the land peacefully have been in vain, hence attracting court cases.
