The Bishop for Rwenzori diocese Rt.Rev.Reuben Kisembo has commended the president of the republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa for the release of the former Tooro kingdom prime minister John Sanyu Katuramu from prison this week.
John Sanyu Katuramu was convicted and sentenced to death in the 2001 for masterminding the murder of the Tooro Prince Patrick Kijanangoma and a guard Stephen Kaganda which occurred at palace view bar hotel in fortportal town now a tourism city.
Katuramu’s sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment and thereafter the Supreme Court ruled that one should not be hanged within three years and the high court revisited the sentence to a maximum of 20 years.
When speaking during the celebration of 26th Coronation Anniversary for the king of Tooro Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukid Iv today at Karuzika palace Fort portal Bishop Kisembo disclosed that Katuramu had served his sentenced thus deserves to be forgiven.
Kisembo added that he participated in the reconciliation of the 2 families which was a good act of forgiveness .He has further asked Katuramu not to again do such an act and asked people not to blame him.
Bishop Kisembo has further asked the government to provide more covid19 vaccines for Ugandans and asked people to be mindful of the deadly disease Corona virus through following the ministry of health covid 19 guidelines.
