During the Labor Day and St. Joseph the Worker celebrations yesterday, Bishop Robert Muhiirwa of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese cautioned public against the despising certain types of work.
Speaking at the Brothers of St. Joseph the Worker gathering at Saaka Novitiate in Kicwamba, Kabarole district, Bishop Muhiirwa highlighted how many Ugandans are unemployed due to overlooking various job opportunities.
He noted that despite parents investing significantly in their children’s education, many end up without employment as they solely pursue white-collar jobs. Bishop Muhiirwa urged individuals to embrace vocational skills as a means to combat unemployment.
Quoting the New Vision, Bishop Muhiirwa pointed out that 17,000 people die annually due to alcoholism, often attributed to unemployment. He advocated for a shift in mindset among the public to address this issue.
