Dr. Vincent Owomujuni who lost in the just concluded National resistance movement party elections in Bunyangabu district has petitioned the party electoral commission challenging the Davis Kamukama who is the flag for lacking academic credentials.
In a letter dated 7th -09-2020 copied to chairperson electoral commission NRM, chairperson Uganda examination board ,director quality assurance and accreditation national council for higher education ,the area RDC, chairperson NRM, district registrar and Davis Kamukama,Owomujuni disclosed that Kamukama is not eligible to carry the NRM flag on Mp ship.
He has noted that Kamukama is not qualified to stand for election for Member of Parliament in accordance with article 80(1) of the constitution of Uganda which states that. “A person is qualified to be a member of parliament if that person has completed minimum formal education of advanced level standards or its equivalent which shall be established in a manner and at a time prescribed by the parliament by the law.
Owomujuni is however claiming that nomination and electing Kamukama as Mp Bunyangabu constituency was unlawful, irregular, null and void for the certificate from national council for higher education equating junior technical certificate in tropical Agriculture stage II to advanced certificate of education in Uganda.
He is however urging the NRM electoral commission to nullify Kamukam’s nomination and his candidature for the Mp flag bearer for Bunyanangabu.
However, using his social media page, Kamukama has described this as propaganda motivated by ill minded persons with intents of ruining his reputation and accusing distrust.
