Bunyangabu District Put has been placed under Quarantine Restrictions following an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in the district.
According to letter dated 6th February2024 signed by Dr. Ann Rose Ademun Commissioner for Animal Health in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Foot and Mouth Disease was first reported in Bunyangabu district in January 2024 and samples have been undergoing investigation.
She says movement of cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs and their products and by-products from through and within Bunyangabu district is prohibited until further notice.
Livestock markets, slaughter places, including butcheries, loading grounds and animal shows in the entire district are hereby closed with immediate effect as per the Animal Diseases Act, cap 38.
The Local Government Administrators, DVO, LCs, Chiefs, Enforcement personnel and General Public are requested to enforce quarantine restrictions to curtail the spread of the deadly disease.
