About a thousand spectators in Burahya County Kicwamba Kabarole were left astounded by the exciting MTN Tooro Kingdom Masaza Bicycle Races 2nd Edition that commenced from Kihondo trading center.
According to the Burahya County Chief, Patrick Bwegendaho, the race that attracted 51 participants, was carried out ethically despite the overwhelming spectators along the road.
Bwegendaho, used the same chance to remind Kingdom subject of actively engaging in Kingdom activities, mostly the ones supported by MTN Uganda.
“We should be able to participate in Kingdom activities so that you inculcate the virtue love for our Kingdom to the young ones” Bwegendaho remarked
Of the 40 riders, Kenneth Murungi,Raymond Muhumuza, Nicholas Mugenyi,Jovan Alinde and Richard Kyomuhendo managed to walk away with rewards of cash ranging from 500, 000 Shs to 100,000sgs respectively, whereas Rajab Gumisiriza,Bright Christopher, Stephen Baruga Enoch Mutebezi and Christopher Musinguzi bagged the cash reserved for the Sports bikes Winners respectively.
The top winner participants, Kenneth Murungi and Rajab Gumisiriza , consented to having engaged in the same activity last year, revealing to us how the funds from MTN contributed to the development of their respective projects.
Having used previous funds to buy some iron sheets on his upcountry double roomed house, Kenneth Murungi, the Ordinary fast rider hopes to invest yesterday’s cash on the same project.
Rajab Gumisiriza, Sports bikes winner, on the other hand intends to buy another bike that can enable him compete favourably in the finals.
Speaking shortly after rewarding winners, Wandera Micheal the Tooro sports minister informed public of planned changes in next competitions, including Increased number of the beneficiaries, and certificates to all participants by MTN.
Aggrey Byaruhanga the MTN Regional Sales and Marketing Manager, was particular that the youth utilize the sports activities to convey the need to end HIV AIDs by 2030 to all residents.
He confirmed the willingness of the telecommunications company to Support any development in the Tooro Kingdom.
