The second fixture of the 4th Edition of the Tooro Kingdom MTN Masaza Tournament has seen defending champions Burahya Isaza face off against Ntoroko Masaza at Kyembogo DATIC Play Ground, yesterday in a competitive match that has renewed hopes for Burahya’s title defense.
Burahya, emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, witn Solomon Kaija named the Man of the Match. Kaija opened the scoring in the first half, followed by another goal from teammate Alutuha Ronald Nyanya. Ntoroko responded with a goal in the second half but failed to equalize.
Earlier in the day, the venue was energized by interesting girls’ netball matches, as part of the ongoing Amasaza Cup activities. In the netball tournament, Burahya Isaza lost narrowly to Ntoroko 23–26. Kitagwenda managed to defeat Burahya Isaza 66–12 and later overcame Ntoroko 62–18, making it secure a place in semi finals.
Speaking after the football match, Christopher Adebayo from the Burahya camp attributed their victory to discipline and determination to defending their championship title.
Tooro Kingdom Premier, Owek Calvin Rwomiire emphasizes that the tournament aims to foster unity among the kingdom’s subjects, while also promoting awareness about ending AIDS.
The tournament continues on Sunday, June 22, with Mwenge South set to take on Bunyangabu at Katoosa Play Ground.
