CAO Cautions Technical Staff On Absenteeism
The Chief Administrative Officer Bunyangabu has warned technical staff against absenting themselves from duty.
She said this on Tuesday when she was carrying out monitoring and support supervision of Lower Local Governments in the Sub counties of Kiyombya and Buhesi where Politicians raised a concern of absenteeism on the side of technical staff.
Mrs. Edith Mutabazi said a public servant is by law required to attend to duty for five working days without an excuse or notify the immediate supervisor in case of an illness or an emergency.
According to Public Service Standing Orders, it is stated very clearly that government working hours are; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00pm. Also a public Officer can be required to work beyond these official hours due to the demands of the service,” she explained.
Additionally, she asked technical staff to be transparent and work coherently with the Political wing and avoid misunderstandings.
The District Planner Mr. Magezi Rubaale who had accompanied CAO in the Monitoring exercise, asked Sub County Chiefs and Parish Chiefs to lay more strategies of collecting local revenue so as to help Bunyangabu District to develop.
He noted that currently, the District is doing bad in local revenue collection and a lot more needs to be done.
