Heads of Catholic institutions in Fort Portal Diocese under their Umbrella Association of Catholic Education Institutions -ACEI have been equipped with leadership skills in a move to strive for education that adds value to learners & improve socio-economic development of the region.
While addressing Seventy four Catholic school heads gathered at St.Leos College Kyegobe for a one day engagement, Rev.Fr.Macarius Kabyogamu, the dean of Students Uganda Martyr’s University Fort Portal campus briefed the teachers on offering holistic education to class learners by putting into practice teachers ethical code of conduct.
He advised them on treating each person with dignity respecting the fact that each individual was created differently, warning them against harassing learners on appearance and intelligence quotient.
Addressing the same audience, Prof.Dr.Edmond Kabagambe the Deputy Vice chancellor Mountains of the Moon University, hailed the Catholic Church for pushing forward education, mentioning that currently there is 242 Catholic schools in the Rwenzori.
He appealed to the teachers to be mindful of leadership that influences behavior of other people positively, citing lack of visionary leaders in the region.
Kabagambe, urged the School heads to have a strategic plan for easy continuity, noting that most schools in the region have collapsed due to leaders who fail to plan for the future of schools.
ACEI elects First Committee
In the very meeting, the Catholic head teachers, guided by the Chairperson Association of Catholic Education Institutions Joseph Nzukwa, held elections for the first leaders of ACEI Fort Portal Diocese including Trophy Atuhairwe H/T St.Leo’s Kyegobe as the Chairperson, Gaaki Stephen of Kinyamasika Primary the vice C/P, Gavin Stella as the Treasurer, Sr.Judith Kenkiimba as the General secretary among others.
