Isaiah Mayombo Adyeri during his sermon at Kicuucu parish, where Christians had gathered to celebrate the first anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima Kicuucu parish.
Msgr. Mayombo, who led the day’s service, drew from the biblical teaching of giving to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. He R
He expressed concern over Christians who avoid their parental responsibilities but are dedicated to religious practices and would never miss a Novena at the Parish, urging them to be responsible Christians who actively engage in both their community’s development and their spiritual service.
The Vicar General also called on believers to reflect the teachings of Christ through their actions and conduct, avoiding hypocrisy akin to the Pharisees who opposed Christ.
Following the homily, Faith Philo Kunihira, the Kyenjojo woman Member of Parliament, praised Msgr. Mayombo for delivering a message that directly resonated with some Christians. She echoed his call for residents to redouble their efforts in providing a quality education for their children.
Hon. Kunihira also gave an update on President Museveni’s promise to provide the parish with a car, assuring the congregation that all necessary steps have been taken, and the President is aware of the matter. She commended the exceptional work done by Rev. Fr. John Kiiza, the Parish Priest, within just one year.
On his part, Fr. John Kiiza, the Parish priest of Kicuucu, echoed Msgr.’s message about educating children. He expressed concern that many children in the area choose to work in tea harvesting after completing primary school instead of focusing on their studies.
He called on government leaders in the region to address the issues related to roads and electricity.
Fr. Kizza also praised the parishioners for their positive contributions towards fostering growth and development within their newly established parish.
