The Local Ordinary of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki, has on Palm Sunday urged Believers to embrace the virtue of obedience and seek divine guidance by acknowledging their human sinful nature.
He was yesterday addressing a congregation of hundreds gathered at Virika Cathedral (McCauley Hall) in Fort Portal City to observe Palm Sunday during the First Mass.
Bishop Muhiirwa, stressed the importance of recognizing one’s flaws while remembering that Christ, who endured various humiliations on the Cross, offers salvation from the forces of darkness. Reflecting on Christ’s agony and sacrifice in Gethsemane with his disciples, the Bishop encouraged Christians to engage deeply in prayer during this passion week, particularly focusing on the sorrowful mysteries of the holy rosary.
His Lordship Muhiirwa, highlighted on the prevailing hatred and anger within families and households, calling upon Christians to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation, as they emulate Christ’s example of pardoning those who wronged him on the Cross.
Emphasizing the significance of spiritual readiness, the Bishop urged believers to prepare themselves adequately for Easter by purifying their hearts.
The Parish Priest of Virika, Rev.Fr. Titus Winyi Abwooli, who co-celebrated the Mass, commended Bishop Muhiirwa for his insightful message to believers, wishing them a fruitful passion week.
