There’s an atmosphere of joy and anticipation in Kanyabacope as Christians eagerly await the inauguration of St. Adolf Kanyabacope Parish tomorrow – a significant event that is set to mark the 34th parish in the Diocese of Fort Portal and the second parish under the leadership of the Congregation of Holy Cross in the same diocese.
Nestled in Mwenge Central in Kyenjojo district, this new parish, carved out of Kyarusozi parish, signifies a momentous occasion for the community.
Mr. Patrick Rwabalinda, the incoming vice-chairperson of St. Adolf Kanyabacope, shared that everything is nearly in place for the upcoming event, reflecting the enthusiasm and meticulous preparation of the community.
The incoming parish chairperson, Mr. Patrick Siisa, highlighted the multifaceted significance of this milestone. Beyond fostering spiritual growth, he emphasized the potential for improvements in the residents’ welfare.
Siisa specifically identified critical areas such as health, water supply, and education that require urgent attention. He urged the government of Uganda to extend its support to address these needs.
Rev. Fr. Kawooya, expressing gratitude for the development evident among Kanyabacope Christians and their commitment to progress, pledged collaborative efforts to advance the new parish.
He underscored the importance of working hand in hand with the community to bring about positive change.
Earlier today, the Superior of Holy Cross East African Province, Rev. Fr. Dr. Cypriam Binaka, in an interview with Jubilee Radio, commended Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki for granting them a second parish in the diocese.
Binaka emphasized that this new responsibility calls for expanded efforts and ministries of the Holy Cross within the area prior to their charism
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow, will be presided over by the Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, is expected to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, adding an extra layer of significance to this momentous event.
