The poor state of roads in Kibiito sub-county Bunyangabu district is holding back the economic development of the area and hampering access to social services.
Kibiito sub-county is well known for growing Mattoke, Cassava, and onions among other crops. However one of the major roads of Mugoma A, B and C are filled with potholes which makes the road impassable.
Residents of the area say that they face a huge challenge to transport their agricultural products to markets due to the poor state of the road.
Currently farmers spend heavily on paying boda bodas who are willing to transport their food to markets.
David Akankwasa the chairperson LC1 Mugoma B said that residents have resorted to carrying out community service after rains affected all the transport system in the area.
According to Akankwasa they have for so long lamented to the area leaders but none has bothered to help solving the problem.
