The territorial police in Kassanda have impounded link bus registration number UBE 535H at Kigarama stage, Myanzi Sub County in Kassanda district.
ASP Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, has established that the bus was impounded on Monday.
“The preliminary facts indicate on 17/10/2022 at about 0600hours, Link bus left Bundibugyo District with 58 passengers for Kampala.” She said.
The Scenario
Link bus park, was on its way to Kampala from Bundibugyo , when the bus driver stopped at Kigarama Stage, Kigarama parish, Myanzi subcounty Kassanda district and picked two passengers. This act contradicted the guidelines issued by the ministry of health against the fight of Ebola as announced by president Museveni on Saturday October 15, 2022 directive no.7 pertinent to Mubende Kassanda lock down.
The directive
President Museveni in his seventh directive following the above lock down, allowed Transit Vehicles public and private crossing through Mubende and Kassanda with police clearance, but prohibited them from stopping to pick or drop people.
Passengers identified
Kawala also disclosed the passengers identified as bus Inspectors as Nelson Mwesigwa and his colleague Samuel Opio who were attached to Hopper bus but wanted a short distance lift to Mityana town.
The police mouthpiece added that exhibit link bus UBE 535H has been recovered and currently parked at Myanzi police.
Meanwhile, the districts of Mubende and Kasanda are currently under a lock down for about 21 days, as a way of preventing the spread of Ebola disease, which originated there.
