The Ordinary of Fort Portal diocese, Rt,Rev.Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki has implored Christians to emulate St.Joseph the worker in working with hands for income.
He made the Call yesterday May 1 on St.Josephs day doubling as Worker’s day while delivering homily to congregants gathered at Saaka Novitiate Kabarole district, to witness the perpetual profession of religious Vows and Silver Jubilee celebration of three brothers of St.Joseph the Worker.
“Normalize using your two hands to secure income just like St.Joseph used his hands to make tables, chairs that he sold to secure income for taking care of Mary and Joseph” Said Bishop Muhiirwa
Bishop Muhiirwa unimpressed by Current working Ethics in Uganda
His Lordship, also observed that currently Uganda is being challenged by unemployment which is partly caused by under looking Jobs by people who see them as dirty Jobs.
He further noticed the availability of poor work ethics whereby members report late to work and at the same time leave work before the actual time.
On this note asked brothers to continue advocating for the value of working with hands just like their patron saint.
Brothers pledge to Serve God for the rest of their lives
In the same function, brothers Francis Irumba of Kabwoya Parish, Joseph Mutegeki from Virika parish and Edward Muzoora of Katukuru Parish made their perpetual Vows.
These were given rings by His Lordship Muhiirwa, as a sign of being faithful to Christ and the Church in serving God.
They professed the three vows of obedience, chastity and Poverty and pledged to live their lives for God.
The Silver Jubilarians commended for persevering
The Silver Jubilarian brothers including Bro Peter Agaba from Yerya Parish Bro.Ephraim Asiimwe from Kitagwenda Parish and Bro Boniface Mujuni from Wekomiire in the same Mass thanked God for the 25 years of religious life.
Bishop Muhiirwa, recognized the zeal and perseverance exhibited by the brothers that marked 25 years, saying that despite the sickness and many challenges encountered, the brothers have remained faithful to Church
He further tasked parents to give ample time to their children and groom them to stay strong amidst all challenges
Brothers decry inadequate finances
Brother Aloysius Kiiza, the Superior general of the Congregation of brothers St.Josephs the worker, lauded Bishop Muhiirwa for the input, and congratulated the grooms of the church for such hard decisions of serving God.
He however revealed that the congregation has been challenged financially ever since the donors pulled out due to COVID-19 effects.
He called for a quick fundraising which yielded about 2.2 Million Shs
The brother grooms, thanked their parents, colleagues and leaders for supporting them and pledged to serve God in all situations.
The congregation of St Joseph’s the Worker, was started by the late Bishop Serapio Bwemi Magambo the then ordinary of Fort Portal diocese in 1992 to push forward the talents of hands like carpentry, Machinery and others.
