Fort Portal city leaders and stakeholders have been tasked to be accountable for their actions, avoid misinformation, and avoid conflicts to foster Development for effective service delivery.
This was during the interface meeting organized by Kabarole, NGO’s and CBOs (KANCA) Association between leaders of Fort Portal City, stakeholders and citizens on transparency in elections and service delivery held at Fort breeze in Fort Portal City.
Warning on Empty Promises
Peter Byakuyamba, a facilitator from Kabarole, NGO’s and CBOs (KANCA) asked leaders to interest themselves in learning and knowing so as to avoid making empty promises to the electorates, which result into commotion that will in turn incite the electorates against their leaders.
He added that leaders should also be transparent, accountable for their decisions and that accountability should not be for purposes of politicking.
Byakuyamba also revealed that this region is lacking people of reputation who can counsel, show direction and guide the leaders which has lagged the region behind.
Baguma Rodgers Daniel, representing the Electoral commission, tasked leaders at different levels to encourage citizens to utilize their civic spaces and fulfill their Major mandate of participating in all electoral processes.
He is appealing to citizens to vote for leaders who Will serve the community interests not voting based on bribery ,tribe, religions and skin color.
