Farmers of Karangura sub-county in Kabarole district are in tears after devastating rainstorm hit their crop gardens.
Residents who are now appealing for relief aid from government says that the storm devastated gardens of crops, swept away houses and killed domestic animals.
Erik Masereka a farmer from Kibyo zone Karangura sub-county says crop gardens of Irish Potatoes, Beans, Maize, coffee, and Banana plantations among others have been affected.
According to Masereka many families have been left without food which is likely to cause famine if government doesn’t intervene with food assistance and other staff for people that lost houses
Erikana Kahuzo the sub-county LC3 chairperson says that the hailstorm blow off roof from 06 houses, 06 goats killed, 06 hens while many gardens were destroyed by the rains
The chairperson has told us that they have started moving around the sub-county to ascertain the impact of the hailstorm and listing families that have been affected such that they submit their names to the government for assistance
According to residents the rains devastated the area on Monday afternoon and Monday night when people were sleeping.
