This investigation was prompted by numerous public complaints regarding the purchase of expired items, including food, beverages, medications and other household items.
The research was undertaken as part of our Jubilee Radio investigative segment, known as Kalingulirizi, which airs every Monday at 7:30 PM. Interviews conducted revealed that many individuals had unwittingly purchased expired products from local supermarkets and pharmacies, with some expressing their reluctance to voice complaints.
An anonymous victim recounted purchasing an expired dragon tube from a local clinic after sustaining a leg injury last week. This incident underscores the necessity of vigilance when purchasing goods, as expired products pose significant risks to human health.
During the investigation, a variety of individuals were interviewed to gather data, highlighting the prevalence of expired goods in the community.
Nutritionist Warns on Increased Consumption of Expired Products
Dr. Bernard Bwambale, a nutritionist at Nutrition Rehabilitation Center Uganda emphasized the importance of checking product expiration dates before making purchases, explaining the potential dangers posed by expired products to human well-being.
