The Fort Portal Diocese has officially received the 3.5 billion Golden Jubilee Memorial House, currently occupied by Centenary Bank as the main tenant. The building was handed over by the project engineers.
The handover ceremony, was attended by the Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki, the Diocesan Treasurer Rev. Fr. Musabe Thaddeus, the Director of Communications Rev. Fr. Peter Kyomuhendo, and representatives from Centenary Bank.
Rev. Fr. Musabe Thaddeus explained that the construction of the Jubilee House began in 2011 and was completed in four phases.
“The completion of the Golden Jubilee House is a significant achievement,” said Fr. Musabe. “The project, which cost 3.5 billion, would not have been possible without the support of both the Catholic and non-Catholic communities, as well as the government.”
Bishop commends engineers
Bishop Muhiirwa expressed his gratitude to the engineers, the treasurer’s office, and the community for their support in completing the Golden Jubilee House.
The Bishop announced that an official handover ceremony will be scheduled, where all stakeholders will be invited. He also mentioned that Centenary Bank will use the third floor for loan clients, while another floor will be allocated to corporate clients needing privacy.
“We commend Centenary Bank for renting out the building,” said Bishop Muhiirwa.
