The Fort Portal Chief Magistrate’s Court has adjourned the judgment in the long-standing land dispute case between Isingoma Kakiiza, Sibirange Alon, Businge, and Kamanyire Deus of Rwengaju village, Busoro sub-county. This case, which has been ongoing for about 10 years, is being heard by His Worship Nabende Moses. The ruling has been adjourned to July 4, 2024.
According to the prosecution, in 2022, Kamanyire Deus allegedly encroached on 49.50 acres of land in Rwengaju village, claiming it as his own.
Isingoma Kakiiza contends that he inherited the disputed land from his late father, Baturumayo Musoke Kaiiza, in 1974.
He states that his father surveyed the land, which measured 49.50 acres, on February 26, 1930, and some of it crossed Kijura Road, which is the part Kamanyire encroached upon.
However, the prosecution also heard that Kamanyire bought the land with his own money and claims that Kakiiza is attempting to steal it, prompting him to take the matter to court.
The court has set the judgment date for July 4, 2024, at 10:30 AM
