Choir leaders in Fort Portal Diocese have vowed to profitably use the remaining two months to rehearse for the 3rd June Martyrs Day celebrations at Namugongo.
According to music experts, the choir is tasked to prepare for the animation of the liturgy at this great event within a period of two months.
Mr Robert Kusemererwa, the music director at Virika cathedral has said that the selection of songs shall depict languages spoken within the respective ethnic groups within the diocese and different choristers( trainers) will be sent to the three deaneries that comprise the diocese to train the respective choir members.

Kusemererwa, says that given the jubilancy and ecstasy that this function carries, different musical instruments will be used to accompany the singing among these include keyboards to provide harmonic accompaniment to the melodic components of the chosen songs and traditional instruments like tube thedol and shakers to depict our
culture.
Mr. Herbert Muyonga, the music director of Kampala Archdiocese has advised the diocesan choir to do simple things but in a special way. He says that the music should be of high quality and the songs should encourage the participation of the liturgical assembly.
Muyonga, who has worked with different dioceses to animate the martyrs day celebrations, says the choristers should be carefully selected and also should train intensively.
He says that the task awaiting the choir is immense given the time limits and also bearing in mind that we have endured two years of the COVID-19 pandemic with
very limited church choir activity.
Victoria Naiga a renown choir member with the Agape singers acknowledges the task ahead of them but further expresses their readiness to do their best to produce the best choir to suit the event.
Francis Bunihizi a choir member at Virika Cathedral, says that the foundation laid by the late Msgr. Boneventure Kasaija will be a key motivating factor as they embark on this task.

The diocese, has identified different music trainers who will train using the same Manu scripted songs to choir members from their respective deaneries who will later meet on scheduled dates to harmonize what has been rehearsed so as to create synergy.
