The mayor Fort Portal Tourism City, His Worship Edison Asaba Ruyonga, has pledged to put more focus on sanitation and hygiene facilities in the tourism City.
He said this, in a City Sanitation Coordination committee meeting, organized by Natural Resources Defense Initiative (NRDI) in Fort Portal Tourism city.
This, comes along with an aim of ensuring efficient and effective coordination, planning, monitoring and implementation of the water and sanitation sector within the City.
The city mayor, stressed that since accessing safe water and proper sanitation is a constitutional right for the people of Fort Portal tourism City , He will ensure that this aspect is addressed with immediate effect especially in the North Division.
According to Michael Muhumuza, the Health Inspector Fort Portal City, there are many sanitation related challenges in the City which need to be addressed.
Muhumuza, though argues that there is no specific funding on water and sanitation related activities in the City currently thus commending NRDI for funding such an insightful activity.
Christopher Agaba, the Advocacy Officer NRDI , clarified that this project is aimed at supporting the Water and Sanitation committee in the City to deliver its mandate in terms of monitoring and supervising WASH facilities.
