Following the Ebola outbreak in central Uganda Mubende district, the Fort Portal regional referral hospital-FPRRH administration has put strict measures to be followed by every person intending to enter the hospital.
The hospital has also reportedly isolated a patient spotted with Ebola-like symptoms and signs at the facility. The suspect according to our source, was retrieved from Kasenda Sub County Kabarole district.

According to the hospital administration Beatrice Batamuliza, every hospital entrance is equipped with a water tank and soap, and every client is required to wash hands before entering on top of wearing face masks.
Batamuliza also stated that each patient in the ward is requested to have a single attendant among others.
Notably, hawkers vending food items in the hospital and other idle people will have to be restricted in their movements to the hospital, in a bid to reduce congestion in the hospital.
Ebola suspect admitted at Buhinga Hospital
Meanwhile, reports reaching our desk indicate that one suspected Ebola patient has been admitted to Fort Portal regional referral hospital from Kasenda Sub County.
According to a source that preferred anonymity, the suspect was retrieved from Kasenda Sub County and is currently admitted in an isolation room at the facility with some Ebola signs and symptoms.
Fort Portal city seeks 900M to fight Ebola
Meanwhile, Fort Portal city authorities are seeking 900M shillings to prevent and fight against the Ebola pandemic.
During the Ebola taskforce meeting held in the RCC boardroom on September 23, 2022, the authorities formulated measures on how to fight the disease in case it breaks out in the area.
Margret Rukindo, the city coordinator Ebola health team established that as regards the formulated measures, 900M will help buy ambulances anticipated to transfer patients from their respective areas of residence to the hospital, training, buying personal protective equipment, and surveillance among others.
Rukindo, in the very meeting, explained that the Fort Portal City task force has submitted the budget to the ministry of health- MOH for funding, but calls upon partners to come on board and render support in terms of ambulances and protective gear to ensure the safety of health workers and easy transportation of any suspected cases in the district.
RCC calls for vigilance among residents
Angalia Kasigwa Godwin, the RCC for Fort Portal, has stated that the task force has set strict measures to be followed by the community including making sure there is water and soap at the entrance of any schools, markets, restaurants, and other big gathering areas.
Angalia, further calls upon people to be vigilant and inform authorities of any signs of Ebola in their communities.
He says people should wash hands, avoid touching surfaces, avoid physical contact and shaking of hands and avoid contact with dead bodies.
Current Ebola statistics in the country
Currently, the Ministry of Health has announced that 23 people so far died of Ebola, thus calling for more vigilance.
