The Bishop of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert K.Muhiirwa Akiiki, has announced a significant reshuffle of priests, reassigning many to new positions and deploying newly ordained clergy.
Bishop Muhiirwa, made the announcement on Saturday, July 13, following the Ordination Mass, which added three new priests to the clergy of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, at a ceremony that took place at Iborooga Catholic Parish in Kyenjojo District.
The bishop instructed priests to collect their transfer letters personally and emphasized the importance of reporting to their new assignments on the dates specified in their appointment letters.
Bishop Muhiirwa also emphasized that priests facing transportation challenges could seek assistance from the Diocesan Treasurer, Rev. Fr. Tadius Musabe, to ensure timely arrival at their new posts.
“You are encouraged to report at your required places of appointment by the date indicated in your personal letters with no excuses.” Said Bishop Muhiirwa
He encouraged parishioners to welcome the priests warmly to their respective parishes and to collaborate with them in advancing the work of God.
Christians cautioned against corruption.
Speaking at the Ordination function, Tom Butime, the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities and MP for Mwenge Central in Kyenjojo District, congratulated the Diocese on its new clergy who will assist on the vast assignments in the church and serving the people of God.
He also took the opportunity to urge the congregation to combat corruption, a significant focus of the 11th Parliament, by reporting any instances they may encounter.
“As you may be aware, the 11th parliament has embarked on fighting corruption in all sectors. You are highly encouraged to desist from any activity that may push you into this evil, but cooperate in reporting any culprit”. noted Butime
