About Bishop Serapio Magambo
Bishop Serapio Magambo was succeeded by Bishop Paul Kalanda by then the Bishop of Moroto. He was appointed to the See of Fort Portal on 28th August, 1991 and was installed as Ordinary, taking Canonical possession of the Diocese on 3rd November, 1991.
In 1999, the Diocese was graced with the appointment of Rt. Rev. Joseph Mugenyi Sabiiti as Auxiliary Bishop. Bishop Paul Kalanda was succeeded by Rt. Rev. Robert K. Muhiirwa who was ordained and installed on June 15th, 2003.
While preaching to Christians who had turned up for the commemoration mass at McCauley hall Virika in Fort Portal city, the Bishop of Fort Portal diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa described the late Bishop Magambo a person who was prayerful, hard working, a person who had strong faith though he passed through hard times battling with sickness among others.
Bishop Muhiirwa, who made his first public appearance following his two months sick leave, asked the Christians to emulate Bishop Magambo’s good example and put into practice what he used to teach.
