All is set for the inauguration of the 35th parish in the Diocese of Fort Portal, named Uganda Martyrs Rugombe Catholic Parish, located in Rugombe Town Council, Kyenjojo District,in an event scheduled for tomorrow, October 13, 2024.
Mr. Patrick Siisa, in charge of publicity for the organizing committee, stated that preparations are nearly complete, and parishioners are eagerly looking forward to this historic occasion. The Parish Choir is finalizing rehearsals to animate the Mass, and all service providers are readily present at the venue to make final adjustments.
Siisa, emphasized that the event is open to all believers.
Rev. Fr. Peter Kyomuhendo, Communications Director for the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, noted that efforts are underway to broadcast the Mass to a wider audience through Jubilee Radio and various diocesan social media platforms urging online audience to stay tuned so as not to miss out on any step.
In his July Priest’s reshuffle this year, Bishop Robert Muhiirwa appointed Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Musiime as the pioneer parish priest of Rugombe and Rev. Fr. John Mary Byamukama as curate, who were officially welcomed by parishioners in a pleasant ceremony on September 13.
The new parish, has been established from the well-known Butiiti Parish, currently led by Fr. Bernard Bitekerezo.
Rev. Fr. Musiime confirmed that the Mass will be presided over by Rt. Rev. Bishop Robert Muhiirwa, with Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, serving as the chief guest.
According to the program seen by the Jubilee Editorial Desk, the Eucharistic Sacrifice is set to begin at 10 AM and conclude by noon, followed by speeches until 2PM.
