The Fort Portal local council chairmen have embarked on day and night patrols as we near the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth in a bid to curb criminality.
It is believed that whenever it is nearing Christmas festival season, reports of theft cases increase in villages. Some of the common cases on record include stealing of animals, burglary , robbery among others.
Speaking to our reporter, one David Kisembo alias Bbala Araali, the area chairperson LC1 Humura zone North division Fort portal city, stated that as the head of security committee in the village together with secretary for security and police, they have embarked on night patrols advising people to close their businesses early so that they can deal with criminals who use late hours to steal people.
As part of the security committee, they also agreed that bar owners should play their music in a reduced volume mode so as to give chances to people who will make an alarm in case of a problem they are easily heard.

Charles Mugisa alias Jusi, the area LC1 for Barza ward central division, has said that they will be helped by police through the use of cameras to track the wrong doers.
He has also said that since the Bazar ward has 14 villages, They are about to sit and harmonize on how best they will be carrying out the night patrols.
According to Mugisa, cases of theft have worryingly increased to the extent of stealing prepared food thus calling people to be security cautious.

Recently, police also said that they are going to increase patrols to protect the public and their property.
