The Fort Portal City North division executive, has opened a general inquiry police file on its town clerk Eunice Kajobe for failing to account for 24m meant to buy 174 trips for the construction of four roads.
In a meeting that was held at the division headquarters on Tuesday, the executive observed that there is misuse of 24m Shillings that was meant for buying 174 trips on the Hakitahuruzo, kiguma, Nyakitojo, Ibonde, Kitesweka, karago, kwakado kyakora roads.
According to the executive the leadership under DDEG , funds allocated among the limited funds meant for spot graveling of selected division roads using force accounts whereby Kabarole district local government equipment were to be used so that more work could be achieved with little resources.
However, on April 18, 2023, under the city procurement, they gave the supply deal to Muntu agencies Uganda limited to supply small trucks of 7 tons, something they say wasn’t agreed up by the council.
Joseph Mashuhuko the division mayor has explained that when the executive got to know what was happening, they wrote to the Muntu agencies Uganda limited to withdraw from supplying the maram who accepted and withdrew.
To their surprise, when the supply company withdrew, the funds had not been released and the works were on standby.
Mashuhuko has asked police to investigate on how the procurement bide the tender and why they changed from supplying the marrum that was agreed on.
Meanwhile the DPC North division Richman Richard, has said that police are going to investigate the matter.
Our reporter tried to get a comment from Kajobe but it was in vain as she wasn’t in her office.
