Fort-portal Nursery teachers impatient as government aid delays

Nursery teachers in Fort-portal Tourism city are waiting for support from government after their income got affected by the ongoing lockdown.
Government through the office of the prime minister and ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development recently launched the distribution of 100,000 shilling to vulnerable individuals whose employment has been affected.
Robinah Nabbanja the prime minister said that government will send covid-19 relief cash to Barmen, DJs, Barmaids, Waiters, Waitresses and Bouncers, Gym and Restaurant workers, Food vendors in Taxi, Bus parks and Arcades, Musicians, Comedians, Producers, Promoters, Salon and Massage parlor employees.
Others are private teachers and support staff in government and private schools, car washers, slum dwellers, street vendors, shoe shiners, orphans and vulnerable children.
In Fort-portal, Kahwa Pulse the director of Blessed Child Nursery and Primary school says that her staff hasn’t received the money despite having registered with education authorities of Fort-portal office.
Another Nursery teacher that spoke to us on conditions of anonymity revealed that together with her coworkers haven’t seen any message from government yet they registered at the start of the exercise.
However according Richard Alituha the Fort-portal City Education Officer said that 1852 names of private teachers and support staff of Nursery, Primary and Tertiary Institutions were submitted.
Nabbanja noted that each beneficiary will receive shs100,000 to cater for the purchase of 20kg of posho at shs40,000, 10kg of beans for shs25000, a bar of soap at shs3000, a three-liter -Jerrican of cooking oil for shs 12000 and the remaining shs20,000 to be used for other items at home.
