By Sylvia

In a bid to combat criminality in Fort Portal, the police have arrested more than 80 people during a two day night patrols that were carried out in the last weekend.

According to the Rwenzori west police spokesperson,Vincent Twesige,  a total of 21 women were arrested,  27 men and 39 boda boda riders.

These were also arrested from dark spots of Kisenyi, kitembe, Rwegoma and other neighboring places.

About the patrol

Following the recent worrying scenarios in Fort Portal city characterized by daily murder of at least one person in night hours last week, the police resorted to having patrols to identify the origin but also curb the public panic ahead of festival season.

According to Twesige, during the recent operation, the police  considered those that were found idle and boda boda riders who were staging in dark areas. Drinking places were as well checked since some of the troubles originate from such places in the night.
