As the Christians prepare for festive season in Uganda, police in fort portal and Kabarole district have applied for 500 police constables to help in tightening security as one way of fighting criminality during the festive season.
Last week president Museven passed out 5200 police officers at Kabalye police training school in Masindi in a bid to increase the number of police officers to ensure proper policing in the country.
According to UN policing standards of 1:500 ratio where a single police is supposed to man 500 people.
According to Patrick Muhenda, the community liaison officer for Fort portal, they applied from the CPS, 500 police officers for fort portal and Kabarole district to fight criminalities in the community.
He has stated that Fort portal is supposed to get 250 and Kabarole 250 police officers.
Muhenda has further said that operations are going on however they are about to produce operational orders that will help them during operations.
He has further asked the public to be vigilant on their security especially on the ongoing bombings in Uganda
