Yesterday, the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese joined the rest of the catholic church world over to celebrate Chrism Mass , a customary event observed annually during Holy Week. During this solemn ceremony, priests reaffirm the promises made at their ordination, and consecrate the oils of holy chrism, catechumens, and the sick.
Call for unity
Addressing the congregation at Bukwali Parish within the Fort Portal City, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert K. Muhirwa, the Bishop of the diocese, urged priests to prioritize fostering unity, echoing the prayer of Christ himself. He cautioned against actions that could sow discord, such as pride and gossip, and encouraged practices that foster harmony.

Christians asked to utilize the anointing of the sick
Regarding the sacrament of anointing the sick, Bishop Muhirwa clarified that its purpose is not to draw death closer, contrary to common misconceptions within most Christians.
