Christians are encouraged to act and speak in ways that truly reflect their inner selves, rather than putting on a facade.
The call was made by Rev. Fr. Sylivenous Balikurungi, from the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, who noted that many Christians display a false appearance of friendliness towards those they dislike, while their true feelings are evident in their expressions.
He emphasized that Christians should ensure their actions and expressions align with their genuine feelings, advocating for authenticity in both behavior and mindset.
During his farewell Sunday sermon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Kyamatanga, Bunyangabu district, Rev. Fr. Balikurungi used the example of someone publicly pretending to like a colleague while harboring ill feelings towards them, urging a change towards sincerity.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Balikurungi also praised the parishioners for their support and affection during his nine months at Kyamatanga as curate. He has now been appointed as the Director of the Lay Apostolate Movement for the Fort Portal Diocese.
The Holy Mass, was attended by various dignitaries, including State Minister for Gender and Culture Peace Regis Mutuzo, who donated 1.5 million shillings for church choir uniforms; Bunyangabu District Chairperson James Mugarama, who contributed 200,000 shillings; and Joseph Mugenyi, General Auditor of NWSC, who gave 2 million shillings to Support Church Construction works.
