Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has again suspended the resumption of the 3rd Division Leagues across the country until further notice due to the upsurge of Covid-19 in the country.
In a circular No.1135 dated 2nd June 2021, FUFA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Decolas Kizza has informed the stakeholders about the new developments
“As you’re all aware according to statistics from the ministry of health there is an upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases as well as deaths in Uganda.” Reads part of the document.
“Therefore, in order to ensure the health and safety of the players, technical staff, and all stakeholders, the FUFA Regional Leagues anticipated to kick off in the near future are hereby postponed until further notice.”
Most of the Regional Leagues had tentatively been expected to kick off in two weeks time and were to be played in a tournament format.
This is the second time the Regional Leagues have been suspended due to COVID-19.
However, the FUFA has advised all stakeholders to get vaccinated to prepare for a safe resumption ground.
“Clubs and all stakeholders are advised to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccination is taken by all.”
