The minister for tourism and antiquities doubling the member of parliament for Mwenge central, Hon. Tom Butime, has asked the districts in Rwenzori to first halt giving out PDM money to the formed groups.
He says the exercise can resume after the public has been sensitized enough.
Minister Butime, said this yesterday, while launching the PDM in Fort Portal at the Youth center Nyabukara Central division Fort Portal city.
Notably to him, many people are still ignorant on how the PDM program works.
He stated that he has moved to many districts including Kasese, Ntoroko, Bundibugyo and others, where it has clearly been observed that people still need a lot of sensitization.
Butiime, advised that in areas where people are not well organized, their respective Local governments under the technocrats should the money on the accounts.
”The local governments should educate all people on how to effectively use the money and later they can distribute it to them.” stated Butime.
The minister, also disclosed that the government of Uganda has has budgeted 4.7Bshs for giving to Ugandans under PDM.
He however says, the money shall be given within four years before 2026 general election. He thus encouraged the public to embrace the PDM if they are to foster development in their homes.
The commercial officer
According to the city commercial officer Michel Karwani, Fort Portal city has 25 wards and out of 25,only 21 have so far received the PDM money. Each of these groups, has gotten 12M Shs.
Karwani, said that each group was supposed to receive 17Mshs, but they only got 12 due to un avoidable circumstance.
