Ahead of the annual National Youth Conference, scheduled for December 10th–15th, 2024, Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo, Bishop of Hoima Diocese, the host diocese, has called for financial, spiritual, and moral support from the broader Catholic community across Uganda to ensure the event’s success.
Bishop Kirabo made the appeal yesterday at the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Association (MEPA) pilgrimage in Namugongo, following Mass led by the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese. He emphasized that the requested support is vital for the event, as it aligns with the Catholic Church’s commitment to accompanying youth on their journey and fostering their holistic development.
Notably, the Uganda Episcopal Conference entrusted the management of this year’s conference to the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province, which, in turn, selected Hoima Diocese as the venue.
In an interview with Jubilee Radio this evening, Rev. Fr. Patrick Museveni, the Communications Director of Hoima Diocese, explained that the total cost of the event is estimated at 800 million Shillings and they have however, only secured about 120 million Shillings so far, leaving a shortfall of 680 million Shillings.
Fr. Museveni also highlighted that the conference will bring together youth from all dioceses in Uganda, as well as several dignitaries from East Africa. He reiterated Bishop Kirabo’s call for financial contributions, urging all well-wishers to support the youth in coming together for a meaningful and impactful event.
